Smoothies for Breakfast!

There’s not much more ideal than a healthy grab and go breakfast that is ready in minutes, especially if it’s so delicious that it will make you crave it!

On a typical morning, I make my household 3 of these in 16 oz cups. They can also be made easily portable by using a disposable travel cup with lid. The exact amount of each ingredient varies from day to day as I never measure precisely for smoothies, but the range of measurement for the ingredients is as follows…

Ingredients (for three 16ozish smoothies):

7-8 oz bananas
3-4 oz Greek yogurt
5-6 oz frozen blueberries
5-6 oz frozen mango
16-20 oz skim milk
1-2 tsp of real maple syrup or local honey
Pinch of salt

Optional Ingredients:
Throw in a handful of baby spinach for extra nutrients that no one will know is there!

How I make it:
I use the measure markings on my blender to approximate amounts of each ingredient and then starting with the lowest speed, work my way up to the highest speed, which is liquify on my blender until all ingredients form a slushy whirlpool then blend for at least 1 minute or until completely smooth.

I recommend subbing out any of the ingredients for others as you have them available or according to your own taste. Smoothies are great for using up ripe fruit or frozen ripe fruit and can help keep your home fruit inventory from spoiling and reduce food waste in your home. Using at least some frozen fruits will help give your smoothy a frosty texture, which I prefer. These fruits are my favorites not only because of the flavor profile, but they also allow for a very frosty and velvety smooth smoothie.

Happy Eating!
